# type

## Function

The script-visible type name of the return value.

## Syntax

```bt
type(value)
```

## Parameters

| value | Any | No | Empty | The value of the type to be read. |

## Return value

| Type | Description |
| ------ | ------ |
| String | Returns the script-visible type name. The extension object returns the object type name declared in `bindings.json`. |

## Example

```bt
result = type('BT')

// Output: String
print result
```

```bt
db = sqlite_open('@/data/demo.db', {})

// Output: Sqlite
print type(db)
```

## Notes

- Empty is returned when no parameters are passed.
- The extended object returns the specific object type name, such as `Calc`, `Sqlite`, `SqliteQuery`.
